Job Description Summary

Mirati is looking for a talented and highly motivated Case Manager to support the Mirati & Me Patient Support Program. The Case Manager works in a highly visible, strong team environment to provide exceptional customer service on all levels (internally and externally). Specifically, educate/update Mirati National Account Directors (NADs), Field Sales Team, Specialty Pharmacy partners, patients/caregivers and Healthcare Providers (HCPs), interpreting their specific needs and providing friendly, professional, and well-informed answers to their questions. The Case Manager will work with insurance companies to understand and manage all steps required to gain access to therapy. The role will assist the Oncology Nurse Advocates maintain relationships with patients and physicians to ensure ongoing compliance with therapy. This individual will report to the Director of Patient Services.

Your Responsibilities

  • Works closely with patients, care partners, HCPs and insurance carriers throughout the patient journey to reduce/remove barriers to access therapy
  • Proactively review all active patient cases to increase time-to-fill opportunities
  • In conjunction with Director of Patient Services and Director of Trade & Distribution facilitate frequent calls with HUB, NADs, Field Sales, and Specialty Pharmacy Partners to understand patient journey and access to therapy status
  • Triage, troubleshoot and resolve initial and on-going reimbursement issues (PAs, denials, appeals, reauthorizations, overrides, billing problems)
  • Acts as the liaison with office personnel and insurance companies to resolve complex case escalations
  • Partner with Commercial Operations and Data Analytics to proactively identify and assess trends.
  • Work with insurance companies to understand reimbursement and access information
  • Trouble shoot and resolve ongoing reimbursement issues (insurance changes, formulary exceptions, PAs, etc.)
  • Coordinate product delivery to patients as required
  • Responsible for maintaining case history for all assigned patients in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Communicate with internal and external partners to ensure seamless case coordination and patient access to therapy
  • Communicate with key medical practice accounts, field sales representatives and Specialty Pharmacy vendor(s) regarding the status of cases
  • Ensure all actions, and those of his/her team both internally and through vendors working on our behalf, are compliant with all laws, regulations and policies and demonstrate Mirati values
  • Work cross-functionally with NAD team on complex payer issues and HCP outreach opportunities

What is Required

  • 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • 3+ years of prior Hub, reimbursement and/or case management experience
  • Certified Medical Coder (preferred)
  • Experience supporting oral oncolytics via multiple distribution channels
  • Prior reimbursement experience with the ability to research, resolve and communicate complex reimbursement scenarios to patients, care partners and HCPs
  • Possess a strong sense of urgency to facilitate case pull through
  • Experience with understanding benefits, access and coverage from health insurance carriers
  • Proficiency in payer coverage policy interpretation (commercial and government)
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, problem solve and manage communication with Oncology Nurses and sales reps across multiple geographies and time zones
  • Cross-functional matrix collaboration to foster case resolution and pull through
  • Possess and portray strong emotional intelligence, positive attitude and exceptional listening skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service and resolution skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive PHI information
  • Have exceptional attention to detail and excellent analytical, investigation, and critical thinking skills
  • Responsible for meeting quality and turn-around-time objectives
  • Ability to negotiate favorable outcomes with payer and HCPs to help obtain needed information and coverage decisions

Other Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work various shifts between 8am - 8pm ET based on business need
  • West coast (preferred)
  • Knowledge of various Healthcare Plan types (Commercial, Managed Care, ACA, Government (specifically Medicare Part D)
  • Computer Proficiency; specifically strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint software applications
  • Strong data entry skills required
  • Knowledge of HCPCS and ICD-10 coding
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology (preferred)


  • Bachelor's degree required (business/healthcare administration or life sciences preferred)
